*Home learning: This will be either Maths or English. It will be given out on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Tuesday.

*TTRS: your child should go on Times Tables Rock Stars as often as they can. If your child is not secure with their times tables they will have been set a times table to learn and will be tested on this at school.

Spring Term:

This term, our theme is 'Blackouts, Bloodshed and Bombs'. This theme is based on WWII. The children will study the Battle of Britain in History lessons and make air-raid shelters in DT! There will even be a special visit from 'The History Man' to teach the students about WWII.

Theme Jigsaw:

Our Class Novel - Spring Term:

During class novel time, we will be reading 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman.

Once (Once/Now/Then/After) : Gleitzman, Morris: Amazon.co.uk: Books

Autumn Term:

This term our theme, ‘Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!, is designed to explore the pressures of climate change on different areas of the world. Through this sequence of lessons we will be considering how climate change has affected peoples’ lives, how countries are acting to slow climate change and what forms of renewable energy are available. To support this theme across the curriculum, we will be looking at Torres Garcia’s style of art, creating Samba music and learning a Samba dance.

Macmillan Coffee Morning - Year 6 Bake-off

Every year, children in Year 6 take part in a Bake-off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Children are set the task to bake a cake and to bring it into school. Parents are invited it to buy cake, a coffee and vote which is their favourite cake. Votes are castled and winners are announced for 'most technical', 'showstopper' 'children's choice' and 'parents choice'.
