Year 1 Cherry and Chestnut
English
Character Description Unit
To hook us into our learning, we were met with an investigation - lots of 'pirate' themed clues were found around our school grounds. We needed to use adjectives to describe who we believe left the clues.
We used our pirate text map to inspire us when writing a description about our favourite characters from story books, games and movies.
Character Description
Narrative Unit
We LOVED the story 'The Pirates are Coming' and have used this to support us with our narrative unit. To hook us into our learning, we role-played in the woodland - making sure we were hidden when the bells rung! Over the coming weeks, we are going to imitate, innovate and invent our very own stories. Watch this space - stories will be published soon!
The Pirates are Coming!
Geography
We have been learning all about the human and physical features of the coast, and comparing these with features found in urban and rural areas. We then looked closely at rock pools and discussed what could be found inside. This inspired us to create our very own rock pools, practising our tearing skills in Art.
Art
Can you tell who is who from our wonderfully creative Cubist-inspired portraits? We looked at the amazing work of Picasso, and used his art to create our very own self-portraits.
